**The dilemma.** Your clerks have proof that Warden Gaspar Lune, who blesses every scale in Aldheim, takes bribes to pass false weights. He is beloved, powerful and a cousin of the Queen. Everyone who knows begs you to stay silent.

## Options and what happens

- **Lay the proof before the Lantern Wardens' synod.** (bold: d20 + adviser skill against 15)
  - Succeeds: The synod strips Gaspar of his lamp. Merchants across Valmora check their scales and nod at your name.
  - Fails: The synod buries the proof and the Queen's cousin smiles at you across the hall.
- **Show Gaspar the proof privately and ask him to stop.** (certain): Gaspar goes white and promises to change. Your own weights are never questioned again.
- **Lock the proof away.** (certain): The false weights go on. You know it every time you pass the temple.
